Driving insurance profitability, portfolio by portfolio

In today's increasingly competitive insurance landscape, we recognised a need for a tool that not only simplifies the complexities of portfolio management but also empowers businesses with informed decision-making capabilities. That's how Sybil was born.

It isn’t just an academic exercise for us: we have done this, and still do it.  Sybil’s evolution is directly from experience.  When a group of us left Legal and General in 2021 to set up Calibrant, a firm focused on the performance of insurance portfolios, we concentrated on the actuarial underpinning of portfolio management.  Every step we made, successful or not, taught us more about the benefits and pitfalls of managing portfolios.  The benefits materialised quickly in improved loss ratios.  The pitfalls were mostly the challenges of repeatedly delivering actuarial insight and converting this into decisions.  Sybil is designed to deliver the benefits while overcoming the pitfalls.

Calibrant remains a sister company with a strong actuarial team providing this insight to our clients when needed. The team at Sybil Tech separated from Calibrant in 2022 to focus on the software development.

We're not just software developers, we're actuaries, data scientists and thought-leaders. We believe in the power of data, but we also understand the invaluable role of expert actuarial and underwriting judgment.

Our commitment goes beyond providing a platform. We're dedicated to supporting our clients every step of the way, ensuring that they harness the full potential of Sybil. With a focus on continuous improvement, we're always seeking feedback and exploring new frontiers to make our platform even better.
